Being homeless or living in poverty is a huge problem for many of today's youth. When children deal with such situations it can make them feel less about themselves. It can also take away the child's adolescence if he or she is forced to take on more adult roles.
As a teacher I will offer help to both the students and parents. I will also make sure that while at school the student is fully involved in child like behaviors. Also as a teacher I would also ensure that children dealing with these situations feel the best about themselves.

Reflection 1
I attended South Side Elementary in Frankfort, Indiana. When I was in the second grade my teacher Mrs. Wilson was diagnosed with leukemia. Despite her ongoing battle with the cancer Mrs. Wilson missed very few days of school. She continued to show up to class everyday full of joy and eager to teach us. It was during this year of my life that I decided that someday I wanted to be a teacher. Mrs. Wilson's strength during that hard time in her life greatly influenced me. I hope that some day I will be able to be as successful as she was at teaching. I also hope to be able to make an influence on a young child's life just as she did mine.
I do believe that Mrs. Wilson has retired from teaching but she is still very much involved in education in other ways.
